Dusting off the Cobwebs

I am back! It has been over two years since I have posted a new entry, but if you have visited the blog recently you would have noticed that I have made some visual updates. My goal is to try to create posts on a more regular basis starting today, but my new job has been taking up a lot of my time, as well as my studies for my CPA designation.

For today's post I created a uniform set for a team that recently unveiled their uniforms, the newest team in the ECHL, the Newfoundland Growlers. Newfoundland is my home province so I thought creating a concept set for that team would be a good way to start up the blog again. The logo that the team unveiled is very solid, but when they revealed their jerseys I thought that they may have missed the mark. I am not a fan of the very different sizing of the arm stripes in comparison to the waist stripes.

My concept looks to create a traditional look, which would help to tie into their parent club, the Toronto Maple Leafs. The concept using the same numbers that the Leafs currently use. I have seen around the internet there have been people that were not a fan of the Newfoundland wordmark above the logo but I thought it worked so I brought it over to the white jersey as well. For some reason the wordmark reminds me of a military patch, with it being placed on a namebar rather than being stitched right to the jersey. Maybe that is what the original designer had in mind when designing it.

Without further ado, here are my concepts for the Newfoundland Growlers!

And for those who might be interested I posted a video of my process creating these concepts in this video:
