Rebranding the CWHL (May 11: Boston Blades added)

Sorry everyone for the long wait between blog posts. I was on vacation with my family in Orlando, getting to experience Disney World, Universal Studios, and Legoland for the first time. 

The CWHL(Canadian Women's Hockey League) has been in operation ever since 2007. Even though the league will be soon be celebrating their 10th year in 2017, the teams in the league have still not created logos for their jerseys, instead going the collegiate route by using a wordmark on their jerseys. 

I aim to rebrand all the teams that currently play in the CWHL. As of right now, I have three teams finished and will update this post whenever I complete the last two teams.

The End is Near

Today we have another concept from Jared Lammi. Once again he combines the tv show Sonic the Hedgehog with hockey. This time he says his concept will predict the Earth's future and save us from the end of the world.

Jared has made progress from his first submission on this blog. I am glad that he took my advice and starting using pre made templates, as well as adding actual fonts and numbers to his jersey. The only problem I have with the numbers and font on this concept is the gradient makes them hard to read. Another execution error comes from the stripes bleeding outside of the jersey. I hope you keep taking my advice, Jared, so that your concepts will have zero errors in them. 

I have one question for you Jared, on how you make your concepts? What app do you use on your iPad?

Coyote Ain't So Ugly

After seeing the Coyotes throwback to their original uniforms, and with the news that they are going to be changing their uniforms next year, I have created an alternate uniform that combines old and new identities.

The Dream

With the Toronto Maple Leafs season gone down the toilet, the only thing any Leafs fan can look forward to now is the upcoming NHL entry draft. The hope is that the Leafs will have a miracle bestowed upon them and win the lottery and get to pick Connor McDavid with their first pick in the draft. Doesn't this just look like it is meant to be? 

This is the dream folks.

Classic Sabres

When the Bufallo Sabres changed their uniforms from the buffaslug to their more classic uniforms, it was agreed that they were way better. Now with time having passed, there are certain things that bug people about the uniforms, such as the piping, chest number and underarm being grey. I updated their jerseys to be more like their classic jerseys while maintaining the darker colours that they use today.

Cow Town

In today's concept I have updated the look of the Calgary Flames by giving them more traditional striping and numbers.

Battle of Penn State + Sonic

Todays concepts come from Jared Lammi. Jared has been making some progress with his concepts and I hope he keeps on striving to become better. The first concept is of both the Penguins and Flyers. I don't know if Jared intended to have both teams play each other in these jerseys but if so, it would be hard to differentiate teammate from opponent since both jerseys are gray.

His second concept is for the Vancouver Canucks, in which he has given them a Sonic themed jersey.

The one bit of advice I would give to you now Jared is that I have seen in most of your concepts you just fill in the areas with different colours and thats it. It would help if you tried to create striping schemes for the jersey to be more creative.
